There is by no means a shortage of bars in Pacific Beach. There are so many after a while they all begin to look the same. but for a fresh vibe with live tunes, good grub and unbeatable deals, the 710 Beach Club & Grill is a local secret.

Located on Garnet Avenue next to Crystal Pier, 710 is in the heart of PB, steps from the beach and other nightlife. Along with live music, it will serve you a burger and beer for $7.10 all day every day and feature a happy hour that boasts half-priced food and drinks Monday through Friday.

One of the few live music venues on Garnet Avenue, 710 hosts acts with genres ranging from reggae to classic rock. The recently improved acoustics and world-class sound engineering make this an ideal venue for aspiring groups and their burgeoning following.

“We’ve had a lot of good bands start out here,” owner David Creviston said.

The club is a launching pad for talented musicians, providing a path to the Southern California music circuit for groups such as Full Blown Stone, Slightly Stoopid and Rebelution. Acts such as Dirty Heads, Fishbone and Authority Zero can also be seen playing at 710. No matter what the band, PB local Tyler Dupraw said, “710 is always a party.”

The crowd is amiable at 710 and is receptive to newcomers.

“We hardly have any issues with aggressive people here,” Creviston said, adding the music attracts a more down-to-earth scene.

“The people are friendly,” Dupraw said. “It never fails. Everyone’s there for good music and laughs.”

Since its remodel in 2006, 710 has grown in popularity among college students and local patrons. Once an antiquated blues bar, traces of the old-time feel mark the upgraded beachfront location as an “alternative to your everyday bro bar,” Creviston said.

Home to the original PB game night and beer pong tournament, 710 delivers a variety of weekly events for its customers.

“We try to always be inventive,” Creviston said.

On Monday it offers a go-go dancer performance with happy-hour prices. Tuesday is both game night and wing night, with open beer pong tournaments and 25-cent buffalo wings. On Thursday, 710 hosts live band karaoke and Friday and Saturday are generally reserved for featured musical performances.
