Three Aztecs honored, White named top freshman

Billy White was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year yesterday. The San Diego State men’s basketball forward led all freshmen in scoring (9.1) and rebounding (6.5), and was second in steals (1.4) in conference action.

Junior forward Lorrenzo Wade was named to the first-team all-MWC team. Wade was fifth in conference play in scoring (15.9), ninth in rebounding (6.1) and third in assists (4.0).

White was named to the third-team all-MWC team, the only freshman to make any of the three teams. Junior forward/center Ryan Amoroso was also named to the third team, after logging 12.6 points a game and pulling down 7.4 boards a contest – second-best in the conference.

Women’s basketball player named to MWC team

San Diego State women’s basketball guard Jené Morris was named to the second-team all-MWC team yesterday. The sophomore was fifth in the conference in scoring (16.1) and first in steals (3.1).

Freshmen forward Allison Duffy and center Paris Johnson were also all-MWC honorable selections. Both finished in the top 20 in conference scoring and rebounding.
