Midnight Study Break

After hours of frigid studying, San Diego State faculty volunteers will be serving free hot pancakes to warm students up at “The Final Blizzard” Midnight Study Break on Monday night.

This will be the 5th Midnight Study Break hosted by Student Life & Leadership and will take place from 9 p.m. to midnight in Montezuma Hall. The first 500 students to show up will be guaranteed free breakfast. The event will feature free snacks, music and test taking tips. An ugly sweater contest and raffle for beach cruiser bikes and school supplies will also attempt to re-energize tired minds.

Assistant Coordinator for Student Organizations Patsy Armstrong said KCR College Radio, which has attended the past three events, will be playing music on stage.

Montezuma Hall will be decked out in blizzard-like decorations. The walls will be covered in white snowflakes with an ice sculpture display. Free hot chocolate will be offered to students.
“I have gone since my freshman year,” tourism and management junior Taylor Catlin said. “I remember one year they had a mummy rolling contest, it was the “Nightmare Before Finals’ theme so they were rolling people up in toilet paper, it was really fun.”
Catlin said he won a backpack with a thumb drive and a free thermos in the previous years he has attended.

“It’s a good way to take a quick break from studying. Last semester we had about 600 students show up,” Armstrong said.
