Midfielder picked in MLS Draft
San Diego State men’s soccer senior midfielder Kraig Chiles was selected ninth overall by Chivas USA in Thursday’s Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
Chiles finished the year with eight goals and four assists and was named first-team all-Pac-10. He is the fourth SDSU player to be selected in the past three seasons, with Tally Hall, Raul Bautista and Matt Couch each being selected in the fourth round.
Sophomore named player of the week
San Diego State women’s basketball sophomore guard Jené Morris was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday, along with Utah’s Kalee Whipple.
Morris scored a career-high 35 points and knocked down seven three-pointers against UNLV on Saturday, guiding SDSU to a 75-55 victory. She also scored 17 points in a 62-39 victory over BYU on Wednesday.
