University Police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday, Nov. 11after he allegedly obstructed the officers tryingto break up a fight at a local apartment complex.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers were responding to the fight by a poolat a complex in the 5600 block of Montezuma Road. Upon arriving,officers noticed several of the males involved sustained minorinjuries resulting from the fight. One male, Michael Sullivan, of the4400 block of 60th Street, had a cut that required medical attention.The paramedics were then called to the scene.
After the paramedics left, the students began exchanging verbalconfrontations. While officers tried to clear the area, police saidone man refused to leave. Although the man was not confrontational,he was still disobeying police orders and obstructing them from doingtheir jobs. Sullivan was arrested, cited and released.
Domestic violence outside PS V
A man, who police said assaulted his girlfriend, may find himselfdoing time after he allegedly kicked her on a sidewalk near ParkingStructure V Friday, Nov. 17.
At about 9:30 p.m., Officer Claudia McDaniel was driving throughPS V when she heard a radio call from San Diego Police Departmentabout a domestic violence incident at 55th Street and Hardy Avenue.McDaniel responded to the scene and saw the female victim. She toldthe officer she and her boyfriend began arguing when he kicked herand caused her to fall on the sidewalk, hitting her head. The femalestudent got a bump on her head, scrapes on her elbow and complainedof pain on her right calf.
The boyfriend fled the scene.
Police are investigating the incident to determine if the casemerits an arrest.
Raging transient threatens pedestrians
A 43-year-old transient man was arrested for suspicion ofinstigating fights with people at the SDSU Transit Center Saturday,Nov. 18. When University Police arrived, they said they saw the man,Gary Okazani, staggering around, and shouting that he wanted to fightanyone around him. Police contacted him and said they felt he wasunder the influence of a controlled substance. Police said they askedOkazani what he was on and he responded that he just drank 5,000beers.
Police detained Okazani and transported him to detox. Officials atdetox said Okazani was hostile and uncooperative and rejected him tocounty jail.
