We asked six San Diego State Universitystudents to respond to last week’s opinion poll question. Here’s whatthey had to say:
“Yes. The majority of the people should be the ones to decide who wins.” –Jeff Obayashi business sophomore “Yes. It doesn’t fairly represent people’s true interests.” –Jon Teystro computer science senior “Yes and no. If we had a system like Maine, it’s a good system. But if the president wins with a minority of the vote, it sucks.” –Chris Foster math junior “No. Even though the whole state votes for one candidate, the electoral vote can go against what the people want.” –Marilyn Rojas journalism/Spanish sophomore “No. It’s not saying that each individual counts.” –Monica Lopez psychology junior “In this case no because I want Gore to win.” –Melissa McKinley French freshman
