San Diego State Associated Students has launched a campaign to encourage students to vote. Jeremy Ehrlich, A.S. vice president of external affairs, and the A.S. External Affairs Board have been handing out yellow T-shirts, buttons and stickers with the words “I Will Vote” to students. There are also yellow wristbands with the words “Vote Strong,” one of which was given to Sen. Hillary Clinton after her appearance at SDSU on Friday. At the A.S. council meeting on Wednesday, Ehrlich stressed the importance of students voting at this time of fiscal emergency in California that could mean “a hard time on our campus.””We need to show we do care and (lawmakers) need to listen to what we say,” Ehrlich said.Debates will be held at noon today on the Free Speech Steps, allowing students to voice their opinions on the propositions and presidential candidates up for a vote tomorrow.
