United States affect you, and what is one
overseas story you’ve been following?’
“Anything that happens in the world affects my world. Everything does. I’ve been following the crisis in Peru. I’m glad they stormed it. If you give in to them, you’d have to give in to everybody.”

Honestly? I think that the more local it is, the more it affects you. If people kill themselves in Rancho Santa Fe, that’s close and I care, but if people kill themselves in China I don’t care. If it’s really close it’s more exciting … I guess the Lima situation. I think they did the
right thing by storming in.”

“It affects all of us because we’re on this planet together. I’ve been following the embassy takeover by the revolutionary group Tupac Amaru in Lima, Peru. I feel bad because I think that if they had been more forceful in pushing their issues, like if they had killed one person a day, then they would have shown the government of Peru that they meant business. I’d also like to point out that the Peruvian soldiers were of a different social class than the men in Tupac Amaru and then even a different class than the hostages. I think Fujimori is a loser and a coward. I think he’s afraid to face the social dilemmas of his own country. People who say he’s a hero have no idea what’s really going on in Latin America.”

“It makes you more aware of what’s out there. It’s kind of a heads up to know what’s going on. I don’t really follow anything but if I hear something then I’m aware of it like what’s happening in Africa or the Middle East.”
