Three people arrested in Lot F
Two men and a 17-year-old girl were reportedly arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of burglary tools around 2:30 p.m. last Tuesday in Parking Lot F, which is located on the east side of campus.
University Police Sgt. Lamine Secka said witnesses called police and reported two suspicious men loitering in the parking lot and holding tools.
The same witness also reported a girl sitting in a nearby truck who appeared to be acting as a lookout for the men.
“They were seen casing a motorcycle in the F Lot,” Secka said. “That means they were looking for something to steal.”
When officers arrived, the suspects, who are non-San Diego State students, were still in the lot.
Secka said statements made by the suspects and the items in their possession led officers to determine they had plans to steal vehicles.
The two men, ages 20 and 27, were arrested and taken to county jail.
The girl was released to her parents, according to the police report.
There was no reported damage to the motorcycle.
Two suspects arrested on suspicion of grand theft at SDSU Bookstore
Two people were reportedly arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday outside the San Diego State Bookstore.
Secka said a man was approached by security guards who suspected that he was stealing textbooks.
The 28-year-old man reportedly fled the store and tried to get into a vehicle that was waiting for him in the loading dock behind the bookstore.
Security guards were able to detain the man and the driver, a 28-year-old woman, until officers arrived, Secka said.
He said more than $400 worth of textbooks were found on the man.
“They were arrested (on suspicion of) burglary because they showed up to the bookstore with the intent to commit a crime,” Secka said.
He said the suspects, who are both non-SDSU students, had been spotted by security guards on previous occasions and were suspected of stealing textbooks and selling them back for cash.
Two victims report robbery outside of Parking Structure 3
Two men reportedly robbed a man and a woman around 11:45 p.m. last Wednesday at the main entrance of Parking Structure 3, which is located on the southeast side of campus.
The suspects are described as two black males in their early 20s, according to police reports. They were wearing dark clothing with bandanas tied around their faces at the time of the incident, according to police reports.
One of the suspects showed a gun to the two victims, who were walking outside PS 3 and demanded money, Secka said.
The men took $45 in cash and left the scene on foot.
After viewing video surveillance, officers believe that two additional black men who were at the scene might have also been involved, according to police reports.
There were no reported injuries to the victims, whose ages are unknown.
