This is not your average movie-turned-TV-series. Forget remakes of movie classics such as “Clueless.” The writers have done justice to the super human power of the “Terminator” legacy. Many viewers are excited that the series (add Arnold accent here) “will be back.”
For those who have not viewed the first season of the series, let’s recap: It is present day and the Connor family is still running; not only from Terminators, but also from the strong hand of the law. They are wanted by the United States government as terrorists and murderers.
To complicate matters, the future has been changed through mere chance and survival of the Connor legacy and, in turn, has sent more robots back further in time, up to present-day. There are now more of them disguised as humans than ever before. John (Thomas Dekker) and Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) are kept on their toes as they narrowly escape certain death.
The nail-biting season premiere starts with an explosion; a Jeep is in shambles and John Connor’s protective Terminator, Cameron Phillips, is seemingly destroyed. The Connors are faced with two men searching for a piece of a perceived destructive computer.
Catherine Weaver (Shirley Manson) gains an important piece of technology to aid in her growing company, but keeps her new project shrouded in mystery. Could this device be the start of Skynet? Or is Weaver a power hungry human from the future?
John is also faced with his realizations of the future and how he is a key player in the salvation of humanity. His own hands compromise the brevity of his future self and his survival.
James Ellison (Richard T. Jones), the FBI agent chasing the Connors, is also faced with his own mortality. James witnesses firsthand what Cromartie (Garret Dillahunt), and the rest of the Terminators, are capable of, and starts to fully understand the dire situation the world may soon face.
Derek Reese (Brian Austin Green) also reveals some startling information to Charley Dixon (Dean Winters), Sarah’s former fiancee, which may spark his interest in helping Sarah and John in their fight to survive.
This is must- see TV at its finest, a true science fiction- based show worth setting the DVR for.
