Springtime in San Diego is perfect with some folky harmonics circa 1974. That is exactly what The Griffin has in store this Saturday night — Truth & Salvage Co. will be gracing America’s Finest City this week with a rare appearance. The band, which was previously based in Los Angeles and has since relocated to Nashville, Tenn., is prepping for its second album, set to release later this spring.

The band is comprised of Scott Kinnebrew, Tim Jones, Bill Smith, Walker Young and Adam Grace. Its first full-length album, released in May, was produced by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, whom the band met while opening for in 2009. Truth and Salvage Co.’s music is perfectly complementary to The Black Crowes, The Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show, and incorporates the skill of four vocalists in one band, creating an unconventional, bohemian, 1970s Laurel Canyon folk sound.

With songs such as the homegrown “Heart Like a Wheel” and ruckus-causing “Welcome To L.A.,” it’s no wonder Truth & Salvage Co.’s shows are like a backyard shindig, a feel-good party somewhere in the rural south. That’s exactly what Truth & Salvage is offering in support of its upcoming album. For a limited time this summer and fall, the band will offer a “backyard hootenanny” for those interested in a private party.

For those unable to host a private concert, Truth & Salvage Co. will rock the folk out of The Griffin with The Grass Heat at 9 p.m. this Saturday. Tickets are available through The Griffin’s website and are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The Griffin is located in Linda Vista on Morena Boulevard. The show is 21 and older only.
