San Diego State Aztec Sara Stelzer died this past Friday after battling meningococcal meningitis. The 18-year-old, first-time freshman was from Moorpark, Calif. and came to SDSU to study communications.

Stelzer was a Kappa Delta sorority member and as a recent statement from SDSU called her “a vibrant young woman.”

Friends, Aztecs and acquaintances shared their grief and condolences via Twitter this past weekend.

From her hometown Moorpark:

From California Assemblyman Jeff Gorell:

Stelzer was excited for life and her future, as can be seen in her recent Tweets.

On Oct. 10, just two days before she started experiencing symptoms, Stelzer retweeted this sentiment:

She was happy,

Positive,

Optimistic,

and humorous.

Prayers to the Stelzer family and all those affected by this terrible tragedy. SDSU lost an Aztec too soon.
