In the wise words of Vogue, “is having a boyfriend embarrassing?” For us in arts and culture, we feel that this sentiment is igniting the love we have for our girls, so let us invite you to celebrate your friendships. Join us as we explore some of the best ways to embrace the Galentine’s spirit and avoid making anyone the third wheel this Valentine’s! XOXO – Arianna
Galentine’s Yoga at Mission Beach – Felicity
Molly’s at Mission Beach will be hosting a special Galentine’s Yoga on the sand with a stunning ocean view. The free event, taking place Feb. 15 at 9:30 a.m., is a perfectly serene, reflective and grounded way to start your morning.
Paired hike and brunch – Felicity
For those active, adventurous girls out there, a paired hike and brunch is another great way to bond with your gals.
Cowles Mountain, less than 20 minutes from SDSU, has a spectacular view that stretches all the way to the sea. Close to the trail parking lot, a nearby strip mall houses a quaint açaí bowl and smoothie cafe for a sweet post-summit treat.
For a flatter hike, you can try Lake Murray, an out-and-back walk with views of the glimmering lake. There are also numerous brunch spots in the area, such as The Trails Eatery, one of my recommendations for a home-cooked, classic feel.
Cupid’s Skate Party – Emely
Skate the night away in Gallagher Park at Cupid’s Skate Party – a celebration where you can roller skate with your gal pals! The event runs from Feb. 12 to 15, with activities such as shopping for chocolates and candles, floral bouquet stations, bracelet bars and live music. Tickets are $12 for entry any time between 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Don’t miss the chance to roll with the love of friendship!

Galentines at home – Emily
For those who need to give their bank account a much needed break, why not host your own celebration? Some activities you can do at home include board games, karaoke, crafts, watching rom-coms or holding a paint and sip. Why not decorate your living room with pink and red streamers and make a wall for taking photos too? If going out isn’t for you, have a night in with lots of captured memories and fun times!
