Record pace: The 4-1 record by the Aztecs is their best start under third-year head coach Fred Trenkle.
The pivotal point: Junior point-guard Jason Richey is leading the team in scoring averaging 21.8 points per game. He is the first Aztec to be averaging more than 20 points after the first five games since Michael Cage during the 1983-84 season.
