American interior decorator, Albert Hadley once said, “I deeply believe that a beautiful decor can have a beneficial influence on our lives.” I completely agree! Not only is it fun to decorate, but how you choose to decorate your home reflects your personality.
Now that we are entering into the fourth week of school, you may be already settled into your dorms or apartments. However, here are a few simple, inexpensive ideas to help jazz up your living space at little to no cost.
Scarf Draping
Placing a scarf on top of your nightstand or bookcase really adds a touch of effortless glam and an extra pop of color or print to tie the color scheme of a room together. The best style of scarf to use is a standard one with two ends that do not connect into a circle like infinity scarves. As far as the type of material, a thinner scarf works better than a thick, knit scarf, especially if you plan to place items like a jewelry box or picture frames on top of the scarf.
Heart Full of Photos
No need to put your photos into average frames. Make your pictures stand out by arranging your favorites in the shape of a heart on the wall. Yes, it is as cute as it sounds. My friend, Caitlyn, found a layout that actually came from a request for a heart cross-stitching pattern on About.com and it came out beautifully! The Quote Wall
A good way to incorporate your friends into your living space is by establishing a quote wall. When a friend says something really inspiring or a funny, awkward situation occurs, write it down and post it up. The more random the dialogue the better it is. All you really need are post-its and a blank wall. Don’t forget the magic marker!
Now, do not let these suggestions stunt your creative muscles since students do not get to stretch that muscle very often. Just be inspired.
