An 18-year-old San Diego State University student was arrested onJan. 23 for riding his bicycle under the influence of alcohol.
At approximately 2:05 a.m., University Police officer Mike McClainnoticed the man, Ryan Schlick of the 6100 block of Montezuma Road andanother individual riding their bicycles eastbound on Lindo Paseowith out headlights.
Officer McClain was on mountain bike patrol when he ordered thetwo individuals to stop. One stopped, but Schlick continued to ridewithout yielding.
Schlick eventually stopped and McClain noticed a strong smell ofalcohol on him.
McClain ordered Schlick to do a field sobriety test, which hefailed, and was taken down to county jail.
“Pee”wee
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Jan. 29 at approximately 12:10a.m. for urinating in public.
University Police officer Mike McClain observed the man, DavidMarsh of Novato, Calif., urinating on the rear wall of the Beta ThetaPhi fraternity house.
McClain noticed that Marsh appeared to be intoxicated. WhenMcClain asked Marsh for his information to be cited, he refused tocomply and was placed under arrest and taken to detox.
Gee Whiz, not again
A 40-year-old man was arrested on Jan. 29 at about 2:15 a.m. forurinating in public.
University Police had received a radio call of a person causing adisturbance in Parking Lot T. When police responded, they noticed theman, Jose Zavala of the 600 block of 61st Street, urinating in frontof the Templo Del Sol dormitory.
According to witnesses, Zavala was threatening pedestrians.Officers noticed Zavala was under the influence of alcohol and unableto care for himself. He was placed under arrest and transported todetox.
