A small fire on a university telephone pole caused a power outageacross much of campus Feb. 11.
According to reports, the phone pole, located on the east side ofthe Engineering building, caught fire after an electrical malfunctionat about 10:50 a.m.
The San Diego Fire Department and San Diego Gas and Electricresponded to the scene and secured the area while the fire wasextinguished.
Nineteen structures on campus, including parking lots, lost powerfor about one hour.
Police terminate loud party
A rowdy party at 5077 College Ave. was shut down after UniversityPolice responded to noise complaints at 2 a.m. Feb. 17.
According to reports, police first arrived at the party after anoise complaint at 1:50 a.m. and warned the occupants to quiet down.
A second complaint 10 minutes later called the police back to theapartment in response to more loud noise and the sound of breakingbottles.
The resident of the apartment was cited for disturbing the peace,and the party was cleared.
