The Federal Reserve cut the interest rate one-half point yesterday, making the funds rate 3 percent because of the stress on financial markets. This is the second cut in eight days and further cuts are possible.
In Kenya, at least 800 have been killed since a disputed election in December. More than 100 people were killed this past week, including 19 who were burned to death on Jan. 27.
Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean allegedly killed fellow marine, Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who was pregnant at the time. Laurean is believed to be hiding out in Mexico, and a Mexican court recently issued a warrant for his arrest.
