Aztecs Update: SDSU rolls into the Speedo Cup today two weeksafter an up and down in-state road trip. The Aztecs beat Cal Poly142-97 at San Luis Obispo. The next day they lost to both FresnoState 176-108, and Oregon 179.5-104.5. SDSU dominated Cal Poly,winning eight of the meet’s 13 events. The Aztecs took the top threespots in the 100-meter backstroke, the 100-meter butterfly and the500-meter freestyle.
Heather DeFelice starred for SDSU as she won the 50- and 100-meterfreestyle events. Lisa Beebe, Meghan Casillan, Erin Kilpatrick,Mariana Luevano, and Erin Smith all had first-place finishes for theAztecs. Adding crucial points for SDSU was Kim Hamerly. She finishedsecond in the 3-meter and third in the 1-meter diving competitions.In Fresno, the Aztecs won only two events. Luevano won the 100-meterbutterfly, while Kilpatrick won the 200-meter freestyle. Alsoperforming well for the Aztecs was DeFelice, who took second in the100-meter breaststroke and the 50-meter freestyle. She also placedthird in the 200-meter breaststroke.
