A 24-year-old San Diego State University student was arrested onNov. 22 in connection with two incidents of indecent exposure in LoveLibrary on the same day.
At about 6:30 p.m., a woman saw an Asian man walking around thefourth floor of the library wearing a white T-shirt and no pants. Heappeared to be carrying a pair of shorts in his hand. The woman tolda library employee, who immediately called University Police.
The male employee, along with other employees, searched thelibrary for the man as they waited for police to arrive.
An employee saw a man matching the suspect’s description on thefirst floor. The man was squatting between two book shelves with hisshorts pulled down to his knees. He appeared to be masturbating as hewatched two women sitting at a nearby table, police said.
The employee detained the man and escorted him to the circulationdesk at the front of the library. Police arrived at the same time andsaw the suspect run from the circulation desk westbound through thelibrary.
Officers chased the man southbound through a hallway where hesurrendered.
Earlier in the day, at about 3:25 p.m., another woman saw a manmatching the suspect’s description on the third floor.
As she was putting some books back on a shelf, she saw the man onthe other side of the shelf with his back turned away and his headturned towards her. He was wearing only a white T-shirt while holdinga pair of shorts.
The woman left the area to report the incident. By the time policearrived, the man was gone.
The man, Brian Chan, of the 8700 block of Calle Tragar, was citedfor indecent exposure and released.
Fighting in Zura Hall
A Los Angeles man was arrested for battery Nov. 21 after hepunched a Zura Hall resident in the face.
While he was studying in his fourth floor room at about 10:20p.m., the resident heard a knock on his door. He opened the door andsaw two men, including the suspect, standing there.
The suspect, Thomas Hutchins III, and the resident knew each otherthrough a mutual friend, police said.
Hutchins accused the resident of disrespecting him and the twobegan to argue. When the resident told him to leave, Hutchins punchedhim in the face with a closed fist, sending him to the ground.
Hutchins then jumped on top of the resident and a fight ensued.The fight was broken up by a third person and police were called.
Officers arrived a few minutes later and saw Hutchins outside thehall. They detained him while the resident identified him as theoffender. Hutchins was placed under citizen’s arrest and taken intocustody.
Hutchins was cited for battery and released.
Man busted with crack pipe
University Police arrested a 31-year-old man early Wednesday afterthey found part of a marijuana joint and a crack pipe in his car.
The officers saw the man, Steven McCoy, sitting in his car on thefifth level of Parking Structure III. It looked suspicious toofficers because it was 2:20 a.m., police said.
Upon approaching the car, the officers noticed the car had nofront plate. They also saw the remains of a joint and a pipe on thefront console. As they talked to McCoy, the officers smelledmarijuana inside the car.
The pipe had a white residue inside it that was consistent withnarcotics use, police said.
McCoy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
