University Police responded to a complaint by a female student whoalleged that a private security guard was harassing her early on Nov.22.
The security guard was watching an area being cemented outside Templodel Sol residence hall on Remington Road. The SDSU Physical Planthired the guard from City Event Staff Services, a private San Diegosecurity firm, to protect the freshly laid cement from damage.
The female student told police she was in the quad area smoking acigarette around 2:30 a.m. when the security guard approached her andstarted talking to her. She told police the man asked her to take offher glasses and then remarked how sexy she looked without them on andother comments about her appearance.
The student told police she felt intimidated, left the quad areaand called University Police. Police said the guard told them that hewasn’t trying to be offensive. After running a background check,Johnson noted the guard had a misdemeanor warrant, but was notarrested because it was a misdemeanor. Police contacted City Eventand told the company that the security guard wasn’t working out. Theguard was sent back to his employers.
