We asked six San Diego State University students to respond tolast week’s opinion poll question. Here’s what they had to say:
“I don’t think they should because it’s people’s privacy. I don’t think it’s right. How do you know if the person is convicted?” –Shah Dost electrical engineering junior “Depends on the crime. If you get arrested for a minor offense, it doesn’t matter one way or the other. If it’s murder, or rape, people have the right to know.” –David Sherman criminal justice administration sophomore “Yes. They should let everybody know.” –Ronny Rader computer science junior “Yes. More for major things beneficial for the public to know — not for petty things.” –Crystal Hart astronomy senior “No. They might not be guilty, and it would bring them into a bad light.” –Cristal Perez undeclared freshman “No. They may be innocent, and the public will judge them badly.” –Jessica Mix psychology freshman
