Can the St. Louis Rams go 19-0?
Yes, without a doubt.
Afterwatching the Rams dismantle the Chargers last Sunday 57-31 in St.Louis there is no doubt in my mind that they will go unbeaten if theystay healthy.
When analyzing this team, it’s amazing to see just how good theyare, especially when it comes to the offense guided by Ramsquarterback Kurt Warner. Last year’s MVP has put up numbers that arephenomenal, unheard of. Just take a look.
This season he has thrown for 1,947 yards, that is an average of389.4 yards a game. The former Arena league star has tossed 14touchdowns and completed 72 percent of his passes.
“(Our) expectations have just gotten so high that we expect toscore every time, we expect to complete every pass, we expect to makeevery block, every run,” Warner told ESPN.COM entering the season.
Last week they scored every time they had the ball and Warnerposted a quarterback rating of 158.3 (the NFL maximum).
Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers quarterback Sunday was in awe with hisother teammates when watching the Rams perform offensively.
“That’s the best group of offensive talent I’ve ever seen, probably ever assembled in the NFL,” Harbaugh told reporters afterthe game.
Is this year’s team better than last year’s Super Bowl team?
Yes, just take a look at what the offense has done to start theseason.
Offensively, St. Louis is averaging 43.4 points a game. 43.4. Theydidn’t score 43 points in a game last season. They have scored 26touchdowns in only five games. Last season the Chargers only scored25 touchdowns in the entire 16-game season.
Marshal Faulk, a former Aztec, is also putting up numbers thatputs him in a league of his own. He has 797 total yards fromscrimmage with 7 touchdowns. That is an average of 159.4 yards agame, by far the best in the league for any running back.
And it doesn’t stop there with the offensive talent. The Rams havethree of the game’s fastest receivers: Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, andformer Aztec Az-Zahir Hakim.
Bruce has scored 5 touchdowns and has 604 yards receiving on 30catches. Hakim and Holt have combined for 820 yards and 4 touchdowns.
How do teams stop these guys?
Not possible — not even close!
The only games I see the Rams maybe struggling in are at KansasCity in week 8 and at Tampa Bay in week 16. When they travel to takeon the Buccaneers, it will be a rematch of the NFC Championship Gameone year ago.
Only time will tell if they can post the second unbeaten season inNFL history, but to me, it’s a lock.
