MEN’S GOLF
San Diego State’s men’s golf head coach Ryan Donovan can’t exactly give one reason as to why senior Andrew Scott is having so much success.
“It’s a combination of hard work and confidence in his game and in himself,” Donovan said. “It’s nothing really that stands out, just a mixture of all those things that pays off.”
Whatever the reason, Scott was honored as the Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Month last Friday, the second occasion on which he has received this award. SDSU is the only MWC program to have had a player recognized twice this year.
Scott’s award comes after a month that began with a second place finish in the Callaway Golf Invitational on March 14. He was tied for fifth place at the Oregon Duck Invitational on March 28.
The top-five performances come after Scott finished tied for 46th place at the Ashworth Invitational on Feb. 28. He’s currently ranked No. 72 in the country by www.golfweekrankings.com.
Scott hits the links again on April 7 at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
