I’m sitting here writing this, and I never imagined it would be under these circumstances. I started writing for The Daily Aztec my freshman year, and I can honestly say it’s changed my life in so many ways. For one, it allowed me to find my passion. I came to San Diego State majoring in communication, not really knowing what I wanted to do with that after I graduated. I knew I loved to write, so I joined The Daily Aztec. Writing for the opinion section allowed me to come into my own as a writer, and when I became opinion section editor my sophomore year, I knew I found my passion in journalism — so I switched my major.
Being a part of The Daily Aztec also allowed me to be introduced to so many new people who I call my friends now. From the late production nights, hassling to get the paper in by midnight, to hanging out outside the newsroom with other Daily Aztec staff and editors — there’s so much I’ll miss at the end of all of this. The Daily Aztec and the people gave me a home the past four years at SDSU and I’m so grateful.
Thank you to everyone that made my time at SDSU so great the past four years — it’s unfortunate it has to be cut short for all of us in this way. But, in times like these it’s important to remember to keep on keeping on, and as my favorite Beatles song famously claims “Let it Be.”
