One San Diego State student was injured when a group of peopleattending a party at Zeta Beta Tau late Saturday night were assaultedwhile standing outside the fraternity’s house.
While the partygoers were gathered in front of the house, locatedat 5071 College Ave., a black Jeep Cherokee drove up and passengersin the car began to throw unopened cans and bottles of beer into thecrowd.
One of the passengers pulled out a semi-automatic handgun andaimed it at one of the victims.
The car then sped off.
The student was hit in the face with a can and later transportedhimself to the hospital to be treated for a laceration below the eye.
Several of the fraternity house’s windows were broken by theprojectiles.

Dry ice bomb explodes
Police are investigating the origins of a homemade explosivedevice which was found Nov. 8 at the 5300 block of Remmington Road.
The device, which contained dry ice in a water bottle, was foundby a Zapotec resident advisor. The resident advisor was makingevening rounds when he saw the bottle and kicked it.
It then exploded.
The victim was not hurt; however, officials said this kind ofprank could have resulted in serious injury to the extent of loss oflimb.
Evidence was recovered from the scene and forwarded to the crimelab.

Man wields knife at Pub
University Police detained a 62-year-old non-student Nov. 6 afterhe became angry in Louie’s Pub and began waving a machete around.
The student who called the police said he had met the man on a busand the man had offered to buy him drinks at Louie’s.
According to police reports, while they were drinking, the suspectbegan to get upset about the music that was playing. He then pulled amachete from his backpack and started waving it toward the victim inan aggressive manner.
Police arrived and took the man into custody.
While questioning the student, officers noticed he had visiblesigns of being under the influence of drugs.
They asked the student for identification, and when he opened hislaptop case they said they saw a bag of marijuana.
The student was then cited for possession of marijuana.
