Robbery occurs in parking structure, suspectsget away
A robbery occurred 2:25 p.m. Oct. 2 in Parking Structure 1.
The victim, a 53-year-old male non-student, was standing outsidehis vehicle drinking coffee when two Hispanic males approached himand asked what time it was.
A suspect wearing a black shirt and black hat with orangelettering asked the man if the vehicle was his and if he had the key.He told the man to hand over the key before he got physicallyviolent.
The man then locked his car via his external key and tried to dialthe police on his cell phone.
The second suspect grabbed the cell phone while the man yelled,”Help, police!”
Both suspects ran and the man lost sight of them when they wentdown the stairwell, one still with the man’s cell phone.
Someone heard the yell for help and called University Police.
The police arrived and checked the area, but the suspects weregone.
Both suspects were 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches talland approximately 190 pounds. The second suspect had a darkercomplexion than the first and acne scars on his face.

Attempted forced entry into occupied vehicleleads to arrest
University Police received a radio call at 9:56 a.m. Oct. 5reporting that a woman attempted to force her way into an occupiedvehicle in the second level of PS 1.
Police responded and upon arrival observed a black woman wearing awhite bandanna and white shirt who matched the description of thesuspect. She carried two black backpacks.
During a consented search of the backpacks, the officers foundidentification cards from Alvarado Hospital and a medical bracelet,which identified the woman as 28-year-old Sharon Elder.
The officers transported Elder to the hospital to find therightful owners of the ID cards. A lineup was immediately conducted.
At the time, the San Diego Police Department was investigating agrand theft from Alvarado hospital.
Elder was arrested by University Police for possession of stolenproperty and handed over to SDPD.
Delusional man arrested in Maya and Olmeca quadat gunpoint
A mentally-ill 21-year-old man holding a steak knife was screaminghis girlfriend was dead in the Maya and Olmeca quad Oct. 5.
When police arrived at the scene, they took him down at gunpoint.
According to police, the man was delusional and hallucinating atthe time. The man said he didn’t know where he was or how he hadgotten there.
The man was transferred to County Medical Health for psychologicalevaluation. He was suspected to be under the influence ofmethamphetamine.
The man was not a student and it is unknown how he got into thequad area.
University Police Crime Prevention Specialist Marc Fox said it’sreally important for students in residence halls to make sure no onewalks in behind them when they open the door. Unless the studentknows the person, he or she should pull the door shut and let thenext person use his or her card, Fox said.
