Battery in the garden
At approximately 8:30 a.m. last Friday, near San Diego State’s Mediterranean Garden, a female student was sexually assaulted and grabbed by a passing male. Although the victim turned and began yelling at the suspect, he neither stopped nor turned around. She then alerted the police department. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-5, in his mid-20s, thin build and some facial hair. Similar crimes have been reported at nearby community colleges, though connection to Friday’s crime is uncertain.
Indecent exposure in love library
On Feb. 7, an older man, approximately 75 years old, was reportedly masturbating on the first floor of Love Library. A student called the police to report seeing the heavyset man pleasuring himself in the corner of a study area. The student then relocated to a study room in a different area of the library. When the police contacted the accused man, he claimed it was a misunderstanding. He was escorted off campus, but not charged with any crime as there was not enough substantial evidence.
Battery near residence
Shortly after midnight on Feb. 7, police received a call from the Calpulli Medical Center reporting an attack on a student who had been checked in to urgent care. The student was reportedly attacked after leaving a sober-living private residence on East Falls View Drive. He sustained numerous cuts, abrasions and a black eye. He was unable to identify any of the attackers.
