A man was taken into custody by the San Diego State Police Department this afternoon after he attempted to steal a bike on campus.
The man was trying to steal bikes near the Love Library and tried to evade officers when confronted by them. SDSUP Interim Chief of Police Lamine Secka said the man then started a fight with the officer and attempted to jump a nearby railing before he was taken into custody.
San Diego Fire Captain Barry Betha said the suspect was tazed by police officers and was taken to the hospital for traumatic injuries. After his release from the hospital, the suspect will be jailed, Secka said.
