Becky DeRoy is currently a junior at SDSU. She is a journalism major with an emphasis in advertising and is minoring in psychology. Her hometown is Newbury Park, California, where - prior to college - she was a competitive dancer. Now, she loves going to the gym and/or going on long walks with a good podcast. Her favorite activity - that she wishes she could do all the time - is traveling, but when she is not, she is likely spending time with friends watching movies, studying at a coffee shop, or online shopping (sustainably) for used clothes. As for her future career, she is figuring it out as she goes. She hopes to work in a creative position within the media industry - doing some form of broadcasting, advertising, digital design, or writing. Becky is super excited to be a new addition to The Daily Aztec and to learn more about the field of journalism through hands-on experience!
