In what University Police are calling a possible prank, 30students found themselves stuck in a Chapultepec elevator in theearly hours of Oct. 2.
Police said someone in the residence hall pulled a fire alarm,causing students to think it was a midnight drill. At around 1:15a.m., the alarm startled 30 students enough to cause them to craminto an elevator together. Police said the elevator started down, butgot stuck between the second and third floors.
Physical Plant dispatched the call to an elevator service companywho came 20 minutes later to get the elevator moving.
No injuries were reported.
Intoxicated man arrested
A 26-year-old man was arrested while stumbling along MontezumaRoad on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol or drugslast Monday.
Officer Mike Johnson was driving down Montezuma around 4:45 a.m.when he noticed the man swaying and stumbling down the sidewalk.
Johnson stopped the man and asked where he was going. Police saidthe man looked disoriented and under the influence of a substance. Hedetermined that the man was incapable of caring for himself andarrested him. The man was taken to county jail.
Two more vehicles stolen from campus
University Police are investigating the theft of two vehicles lastweek.
A maroon Honda Civic was taken between noon and 1:30 p.m. from LotX on Monday. The second theft involved a Toyota pickup truck stolenbetween 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. last Monday in Lot E.
