La Jolla Shores (Best Surf Spot)
Tom Hammel
Opinion Editor
Address: Kellogg Park, at El Camino del Oro and Vallecitos
Beyond serving nature as a haven for Leopard Shark breeding every year, La Jolla Shores also houses many of San Diego’s greatest waves. Against the opulent background of San Diego’s Riviera, this surf spot is tucked away from the prevailing southwest winds, allowing it to generate decent swells and smoothly shaped waves in consequence. With a safe sand bottom, ample parking, lifeguarding on the shore and consistently great conditions, La Jolla Shores is the most adaptable for both long and short board surfers, and thus the most enjoyable overall.

Snow Patrol and Kings of Leon have also played here in the past and with its exceptional sound system, Viejas Arena is an excellent venue to see live music.

With more than 500 million active users and a movie made about its creation, it’s safe to say Facebook is the most influential social networking site ever, and has been the cause of hours of procrastination during students’ college days.
