Campus Calendar

The Daily Aztec Campus Calendar lists events on and off campus as a service to San Diego State University students, faculty, staff and community.

Clubs, organizations, departments and local community groups may submit written entries to The Daily Aztec City Desk in the basement of the Business Administration and Mathematics building, Room 2. Entries may be faxed to 594-7277, attn: City Desk. Entries also may be e-mailed to dacity@mail.sdsu.edu. Requests will not be taken over the phone.

Entries must contain the full name of the club, organization or group; a brief description of the event or service; time, date, full address of the location; the event fee if applicable; and a telephone number for readers requesting more information.

Submissions are free and are published on a space-available, first-come, first-served basis. The Aztec reserves the right to turn down entries. All submissions are subject to editing for content, space and clarity. Incomplete or illegible entries will be rejected.

The deadline for entries is 9 a.m., the Friday before the event is scheduled. The Campus Calendar runs daily.

Today, Feb. 12

* Students interested in the law enforcement field are encouraged to attend a presentation by SDSU alumni who will be sharing their experiences and answering questions. The event will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Career Services, Room 1208. For details, call 594-ALUM.

* Al-Anon, a self-help organization for friends and families of those suffering from alcoholism and drug abuse, will have an open meeting from noon to 1 p.m. in Student Services, Room 2109. For details, call 594-5220.

* The Asian/Pacific Islander American Students’ Group meets weekly from 11 a.m. to noon. The Counseling & Psychological Services group will focus on effective communication skills, time-management strategies, study skills and stress-reduction techniques. Call 594-5220 for details.

* “Relationship Skills” will be the topic of two six-week groups and one semester-long group, all focusing on useful skills for understanding the nature of relationships. For details, call Counseling & Psychological Services at 594-5220.

* Delta Sigma Pi, a business fraternity, will present Ed Gilos from San Diego Gas & Electric at 6 p.m. in the Backdoor, lower Aztec Center. Professional attire is recommended.

Tomorrow, Feb. 13

* The Child and Family Development Student Organization will have its Spring Semester Kickoff meeting at noon in Family Studies, Room 102. Drinks and dessert will be provided. For details, call 594-3574.

* Lambda Sigma Gamma will host its fourth annual “Red Rose Ball” at the Town and Country Hotel. Tickets are $30 and available in Aztec Center. Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $1, and winners will be announced at the ball.

Monday, Feb. 16

* A support group for graduating seniors meets weekly from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The group focuses on the stresses, worries and excitement of graduating. For details, call 594-5220.

* “Dinner with 12 Aztecs,” sponsored by the SDSU Alumni Association and Student Alumni Association, will be held Sunday, Feb. 22.
