Rosalie Burich, ’23-24 Multimedia Editor
Madison Cadena, ’24-25 Editor-in-Chief, ’23 -24 Broadcast Live Producer
Madison Cadena is a third-year journalism student at San Diego State University. She is from Long Island, NY, and knew she wanted to pursue journalism at just 10 years old.
Currently, she is the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Aztec and began as a sports reporter. From there she worked with multimedia, photo and social media to become the Multimedia Editor in her Sophomore year. Simultaneously she began her Presidential term for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, where she doubled attendance in her year.
Madison is also a member of Kappa Delta and has been a part of the Points Committee, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee. She knew she wanted to gain more knowledge of sorority government, so she currently is on the College Panhellenic Association Board as the Vice President of Programming. In this position, she plans events and helps with governing for over 2,500 sorority women. She is also a new member of the Greek honor society Rho Lambda.
Madison is in her third and final year at SDSU, and she is also a School of Journalism and Media Studies Intern, where she helps produce content and works alongside the Program Director Dr. Temple Northup.
Mimi Simons, ’25-26 Managing Editor, ’24-25 Social Media Editor
Mimi Simons is a fourth-year journalism major with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in theater arts, originally from Dallas, TX. She has been part of The Daily Aztec team since 2023, contributing to the Multimedia section through The Daily Aztec Live broadcasts, writing for the Arts & Culture section, and co-hosting the DA podcast in spring 2025. Mimi served as Social Media Manager on the 24-25 editorial board and is now bringing her passion and leadership to the role of Managing Editor for the 25-26 school year. When she’s not in the newsroom, Mimi enjoys spending time with her friends, diving into fictional thrillers and romance novels, and loves watching movies—especially in theaters.
Lindsey Brintwood, ’25-26 Social Media Editor, ’24-25 Multimedia Editor
Lindsey Brintwood is a journalism major in the Weber Honors College at San Diego State University, minoring in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies. She is a Sports Field Reporter and Deputy Gala Coordinator for KUSI/FOX 5’s Prep Pigskin Report, where she covers San Diego high school football and helps plan the program’s annual awards gala. Lindsey is the current Social Media Editor and former Multimedia Editor for The Daily Aztec, SDSU’s independent student newspaper. She also serves as Vice President of SDSU’s Society of Professional Journalists chapter and recently completed a broadcast internship with the School of Journalism and Media Studies.
Jennifer Aguilar, ’23-24 Mundo Azteca Editor
Jennifer Aguilar is a junior at San Diego State and a first-generation transfer student. She formerly attended San Diego Mesa College where she was the News Editor and the Editor-in-Chief of The Mesa Press. Her goal is to become a bilingual broadcast journalist for a news or entertainment outlet. She also enjoys filming and editing videos for her youtube channel with over 40k views (as of now).
