The San Diego State Aztecs may have only beaten the 21-point underdog University of Idaho Rebels by 14 points, but a win’s a win.
Senior quarterback Quinn Kaehler looked solid all game, completing 14 of 22 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns. It must have been nice to have his top target back in senior wide receiver Ezell Ruffin, who caught two touchdown passes. But the best SDSU receiver today was sophomore Eric Judge, who caught four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Idaho almost tied the game early in the fourth quarter, but sophomore defensive lineman Alex Barrett forced a Vandals fumble and Josh Gavert recovered it on SDSU’s own 14-yard line. The Aztecs wouldn’t look back from there and won 35-21.
