“Pushing Daisies”
Wednesdays, 8 p.m., ABC
Premieres Oct. 3
From Barry Sonnenfeld, director of “The Addams Family” and “Men In Black,” comes a somewhat magical fantasy-dramedy about a baker, Ned (Lee Pace), who can bring anything dead back to life, but there’s a terrible catch: If he touches them again, they’ll die again – permanently. Ted does his best to put his gift to good use in this “forensic fairy tale.”
“Back to You”
Wednesdays, 8 p.m., FOX
Set during the ’90s in Pittsburgh, this new comedy looks to be one of the better new half-hour shows premiering this season. Chuck Darling (Kelsey Grammer) loses his job as a hotshot Los Angeles news anchor and has to move back to his native Pittsburgh, where he rejoins his old co-anchor (and ex-fling) Kelly Carr (Patricia Heaton). Grammer and Heaton are no strangers to sitcom, and, with their help, this show might stick around.
“K-Ville”
Mondays, 9 p.m., FOX
From the man behind police dramas such as “NYPD Blue” and “The District” comes the new series set – and filmed – in New Orleans. Marlin Boulet (Anthony Anderson) is a veteran cop whose job it is to find the most-wanted criminals in this post-Katrina New Orleans. There’s a lot of buzz around this show, so let’s hope it can live up to it.
“Nashville”
Fridays, 9 p.m., FOX
This is basically “The Hills” set in Tennessee instead of Los Angeles. So if you’re into that sort of thing, you might want to check this out. The show follows several young, country-music-star hopefuls as they work to hit it big in the country music capital of the world, Nashville.
“The Big Bang Theory”
Mondays, 8:30 p.m., CBS
Premieres Monday
From the writers of “Two and a Half Men” and “Gilmore Girls” comes another entry into the new geek-is-chic genre. This half-hour sitcom centers around two nerdy, socially inept physicists (Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons), whose social lives are turned upside-down when they meet their new bombshell neighbor (Kaley Cuoco).
“Kid Nation”
Wednesdays, 8 p.m., CBS
What happens when kids are left alone to govern themselves for 40 days? This new, controversial reality series is looking to find out. Forty kids, ages 8 to 15, are sent into deserted Bonanza City, N.M., and forced to deal with grown-up issues while still dealing with their own childhood problems, such as homesickness and peer-pressure. This show seems a little too “Lord of the Flies” for me, but that just might make it more interesting.
“Private Practice”
Wednesdays, 9 p.m., ABC
Premieres Wednesday
“Grey’s Anatomy” writer Shonda Rhimes’s spin-off series showcases the hated-ex-wife-turned-beloved-redhead Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) as she heads down to Southern California to start her life over. While the spin-off had a strong premiere when it was shown as a part of the “Grey’s” season finale, it now has to stand alone. With a cast that includes “Judging Amy” star Amy Brenneman and “Wings” alum Tim Daly, that shouldn’t be a problem.
“Big Shots”
Thursdays, 10 p.m., ABC
Premieres Thursday
Starring Dylan McDermott of “The Practice”, “Shots” revolves around four male friends at the height of their New York careers, and how they handle the sex, money and power that comes with their titles. But with a lead-in like “Grey’s Anatomy,” which has a huge female audience, it’s unclear whether this dog-eat-dog boys club will survive in its time slot.
“Dirty Sexy Money”
Wednesdays, 10 p.m., ABC
Premieres Wednesday
As starry eyed lawyer Nick George, Peter Krause (“Six Feet Under”) must wade through the lies, money and power of the influential Darling family as their legal counsel. Also starring Donald Sutherland (“The Italian Job”) as the Darling patriarch, “Money” is another daring dramedy attempting to wade through corruption in hopes of finding the humor.
“Journeyman”
Mondays, 10 p.m., NBC
Premieres Monday
San Francisco reporter Dan Vasser (who looks a little bit like another man who can affect the future, Anthony Michael Hall) can suddenly travel though time, chasing figurative demons in his past. Vasser (Kevin McKidd) manages to complicate his life with these inexplicable trips, meeting his lost fianc
