Strategic Plan approved
Each major operating unit of Associated Students maintains individual plans that address strategies and goals for each area. Four key topics have been identified for inclusion in this year’s plan: Workforce and Employment, Financial and Programmatic Stability, Future Facilities and Sustainability Programs, and Conservation and Energy Efficiency.
Moving toward a smoke-free campus
A committee has been formed to address a campus-wide initiative to make San Diego State a smoke-free environment. Task force meetings will begin Wednesday.
SDSU to axe Aztec football?
In the latest University Senate Report, it was noted that there has been a move in the University Senate to abolish SDSU’s football program. The president has the final say in this matter, and it was also reported that abolishing football is unlikely to be recommended by the senate.
In response to groups that felt limited by the rules governing use of the Free Speech Steps, a new freedom of expression policy has been put into place and a new senate committee has been formed to govern commercial and non-commercial speech on campus.
Get back on track and off academic probation
A new course for students on academic probation will be offered. The course will consist of study skills taught over a 15-week period to get students back on track. The course will also grant one-unit of academic credit to those enrolled.
