A sexual assault was reported to San Diego State police at 5:18 p.m. Saturday, according to a media bulletin.
The assault, reported as sexual battery, allegedly occurred on campus at Tepeyac Residence Hall on March 19, Cpt. Josh Mays said.
Both students involved in the sexual assault were SDSU students and knew each other. Campus police have said they don’t issue campus-wide crime alerts when the suspect is identified because they don’t believe there is an immediate threat to campus.
Mays said police are investigating the assault, including whether alcohol was a factor.
Seventeen sexual assaults reported to SDSU police occurred on or near the campus last semester.
