The Associate Students University Council gathered for its bi-weekly meeting on Sept. 20 to discuss open positions for A.S. Judicial Affairs Council, the new registration timeline and Aztecs Rock Hunger.
A.S. Judicial Affairs Council open positions
Michael Wiafe, associate justice for the judicial affairs council, said new members for the council are being sought
There are three available positions which include student support representative, elections coordinator and a position as a justice. Wiafe said the positions were not limited to A.S., and anyone outside of A.S. can apply.
Applications are only available in the A.S. office.
Oct. 2 is the deadline to apply.
New Registration Timeline
There will be a significant change to the registration timeline for students in the upcoming year. The launch of a new timeline starts next semester, registration for Fall 2018 is as early as April 2018.
The change to the timeline is intended to allow students to determine their schedule and get in touch with academic advisors sooner..

Aztec Rock Hunger
A.S. Board of Directors member Anya Shutovaska discussedthe upcoming Aztecs Rock Hunger drive.
Aztecs Rock Hunger is university wide campaign where food and donations are collected for those with food insecurities.
“It’s helps people facing food insecurity in San Diego, especially students.” Shutovaska said. “Essentially, the more we raise, the more students we help on campus.”
This year’s goal is to collect 500,000 pounds of food for those in need, A.S. Community Service Commissioner Nickolas Wohlman said.
Shutovaska said the drive will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 22.
