The San Diego State Love Library will remain closed for the rest of the night because a steam pipe burst in an elevator room, according to Director of Media Relations Greg Block.
At 3:28 today, fire department was on scene at the library responding to a smoke detector alarm in an elevator room.
The smoke detector was triggered by the busted steam pipe.
According to an SDSU Urgent Campus Information Alert, the building was evacuated and Facilities Services worked to isolate the leak.
“The steam was incredibly hot, so there was a safety concern there,” Block said.
No one was injured, though Love Library and Manchester Hall were evacuated because power had to be turned off in order to fix the problem, Block said.
The campus remains open, but classes held in the library have been rescheduled.
SDSU_NewsTeam tweeted that if students need to retrieve property from the library, they should go to the computing center near the Infodome.
Block said repairs are expected to finish tomorrow by 7 a.m. and the library will be reopened to the public.
